I would like to do real-time log watching on a client's machine, when some intractable bug presents itself. Can I do this? Or would this violate the purchase license?
I believe I could send the log data to a web service, but this won't help if the problem we're diagnosing involves latency or failure of network connection.
Yes, but it depends on which viewer you’re talking about.
You can freely redistribute the ReflectInsight Log Viewer. We provide a redistributable install on our website in the download section. You need to include the appropriate product key with the install.
The ReflectInsight Live Viewer is licensed per user. You would typically need to purchase a license specifically for your end users if you wanted to install the Live Viewer on their machines. However it’s best to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and provide us details to your usage needs and we can work with you to accommodate.
I need more time to test ReflectInsight.
Could you please send me a temporary license.
If you need an extended trial to continue your evaluation of ReflectInsight, please send a request to email@example.com
I will send you an extended trial now.
This is complete and is available as a NuGet package: https://www.nuget.org/packages/AspNet.Plus.Logging.ReflectInsight/
I find myself wishing I could see the datetime information for the bookmarked messages in the bookmarks view. Often I'll use the Advanced Search to find results and then I'll have them bookmarked automatically. I then go through the bookmarks narrowing down what I'm looking for. If I have the datetime information that would be a lifesaver.0 votes
This is complete and will be available in ReflectInsight Viewer v5.6
1. Log Viewer should show an indication that the file has changed and prompt to refresh
2. there is a Refresh/Reload button so you can reload the file3 votes
This is complete and will be available with ReflectInsight Log Viewer v5.6
Right now, looks like the viewer can only display messages from the local computer, it would be great to be able to connect to a remote computer to display live messages.
Your software would be very useful for DevOps.12 votes
This is complete and will be available with ReflectInsight Viewer v5.6
It would be nice to have the capability to activate the Live or Log Viewer applications from our installation script.1 vote
This feature is available in our next release, v5.5 which is scheduled for release in April.
We have added a new message type ‘SendHttpRequest’ and it will be available in our next release, v5.5 which is scheduled to be released in April.
Would it be possible to put the samples from
a github repository so that the updates are easily maintained?1 vote
We have published our samples on a new github repository.
Add support to the ReflectInsight libraries for .NET Framework 4.57 votes
This has been implemented and will be available in the next release and also on NuGet.
There is a big trend in supporting and emulating Metro in applications. Look at the new theme for VS11. It would be nice if there was a similar them for the ReflectInsight viewers.1 vote
We’ve added 3 new themes that match what is available in Office 2013 (White, Dark Gray and Light Gray). These themes will be part of the next release of ReflectInsight, v5.2.
Ability to log JSON data and have it displayed formatted in the details window.0 votes
This will be available in the next release, version 5.5. We are targeting March 2015 for this release.
Would it be possible in the viewer the home / end key to go to the first and last message?3 votes
This already works by pressing the Ctrl+Home and Ctrl+End keys, similar to other grid based tools.
I am auto-generating a configuration file in memory via an XDocument and I would like to use it without having to write a temporary file.
It would be great if SetDeveloperConfigurationMode() could take a Stream or an XDocument in argument.33 votes
Look at extending the AutoSave configuration to support rolling the log file by file size. Example would be say you configure it to roll when the file reaches 100MB.0 votes
This feature is complete and will be released in our upcoming 5.4 release in December 2014.
log4net etc has the ability set restrictions on a log file size. When that size is reached a copy is made - preferably with a date stamp - and a new blank file is created.
I love the fact that we can log complex objects to log files but that means they get big quickly.1 vote
Can you make the list autoscrollable so it shows the most recent message on top or bottom en scrolls with it?3 votes
Thanks for the feedback. This feature already exists in the Live Viewer for ReflectInsight. You can enable/disable auto scrolling by clicking on the toolbar button on the status bar in the bottom right corner. It is the second button from the right (with no text). Make sure that this is enabled and the viewer will be in auto scroll mode. If you click on a message then this is disabled for the current viewer session. When you want to auto scroll again, just re-enable this state.
In our next release, we’ve added text to this status bar button to make it more noticeable.
Let us know if you have any other suggestions.
Provide the ability to add extended properties to the ReflectSoftware.Insight.EnterpriseLibrary logging extension3 votes
This is now complete and available on NuGet http://www.nuget.org/packages/ReflectSoftware.Insight.Extensions.EnterpriseLibrary/
For me this is the "killer feature" (with the viewer of course) that made me choose your tech. It's great and I'd like more things around it
- The speed is not that great compared to a regular logging, I benched 0.03ms for ViewerSendScratchPad against 0.005 for SendLogInformation
- ScratchPad is basically a dictionary right now, you should use the DevExpress tree control to enable a more rich display (hierarchy, columns). I could use the ScratchPad to send some statistics and view them at runtime3 votes
This feature will be available in the next release.
- Don't see your idea?
